On May 11 at 11:59a the submissions for We Rise's open call will close. Which means your opportunity to be featured in this 10-day festival of art and community building is almost over. Highlighting the stigmas surrounding mental health care is the focus of this year's event. So if your artwork calls attention to this theme then you should consider submitting here.
Each participating artist will have their work reviewed by We Rise's talented selection of judges including Common, Yara Shahidi, Kehlani and more. If chosen, your visual art will be on display at We Rise May 19 - 28 alongside esteemed artists like Glenn Kaino, Shepard Fairey, Favianna Rodriguez, Ernesto Yerena.
Programming details for We Rise are not available yet. But, their team has partnered with leading social justice, political and community organizations to produce panels, discussions and live performances. Since Common and Kehlani are part of the judging committee, perhaps the two socially-conscious performers will make an appearance on the We Rise stage.
But, we'll have to wait until more details are available before jumping to any conclusions. Until then, register for your free ticket here before June 16. We plan to be there, will you?
